MG MGF Technical - Window Stops
One of my window stops has broken, don't know which version it is but it is the original one that was on the car (1996), presumably a mark 1. I have bought a new one, but I am not convinced its the latest MK 3 version. It is an orange plastic moulding - I seem to recall that MK3 was grey and a round barrel. The part number for the one I have got is CUQ 100102. If I have got an older version, does anyone know the part number for the latest version? Thanks Paul P9 VLS

Paul, As you suspect, the orange one is not the latest. Can't help with the part number, sorry, but the dealer ought to know the difference!
Dave
The Mk3 version was introduced early 1998 and isn't orange. Even more, it is a three piece set now (IIRC).
Erik
Yeah the MK3 is a bit like a nut and bolt arangement. Its odd because when I went to my dealer to get them they tried to palm me off with the MK2 ones.

There's a picture of the mark 3 windstop on Dieter's site ( as usual ). http://www.mgfcar.de/window/dkdcp_1929_t.jpg The one on the left (the black one) is the mark 3. Johan

I have pictures and details of how to change window stops in the MG/mgtf Faq... http://homepage.ntlworld.com/dotcomoff/

Thanks, I'll take it back on Monday, I think Rover must have found a box of Mk 2's and are trying to palm them off on their customers. Paul P9 VLS

Nice one Richard just broken the first of our old plastic stops! Can't grumble I suppose after almost 15 years!
Ted Newman
Now done and as Richard suggested all those years back - took just over half an hour!
Ted Newman
Yes, the orange ones are the Mk2 version, and yes, they're rubbish, and most usually found at the bottom of the door frame... http://mgf.ultimatemg.com/project_shed/images/part2/Image6.gif Bolt and nut arrangement is the one you want - aka the Mk3 :o) Long time no hear Paul - are you coming along to MGF15 this weekend?
Rob Bell
Rob - that was me resurrecting an old posting from the archives where I had searched for "instructions". Paul's post is dated 2003 BUT who knows he may just read this!
Ted Newman
D'oh!!!! Not sure I am going to get on with this 'new feature' of being able to ressurect old threads Bah humbug! LOL! Are you and Karin coming along Ted?
Rob Bell
Rob - looks like we may have Sunday free so do you know if we come and pay at the gate do we still get into the MGF car park?
Ted Newman
Pay at the gate, and all MGFs/TFs get into the MG parking :o)
Rob Bell
Thanks mate - hope to see Project Shed on Sunday!
Ted Newman
I hope the Shed isn't going to be camera shy! LOL See you Sunday :o)
Rob Bell
