MG MGF Technical - wiring loom F-TF headlights

Hello,

Due to selling a few F - TF conversion I wil need to modify the loom of the F so it actually fits into a TF headlight. I already no the the pins of the plugs so that shouldn't be a problem, does anybody know where I can get the plug which goes in the TF headlight and the 'opposite' plugs into which I can put the standard F plugs which normally goes into F-headlight and F-indicator. So what I want to make is a wiring loom 2 plugs on 1 side (where original plugs of F can be connected) and a TF plug on the other side which goes into the TF headlight.

Any suggestions are very welcome, experimenting with this can drag me through the X-mas days.

Kind regards and happy X-mas to everybody!

Marten,

I had this conversion done to my F.

The original F plug will fit the TF head lamp but the pins need to be rewired to the correct holes and the outside housing of the connector needs to be removed with a sharp blade. Inside the connector housing is a rectangular plug which will fit nicely into the TF headlamp.

If you want I can take a picture for you.

hello Chris,

Thanks, I would appreciate it if you are able to send a pic.
So it seems not to be so difficult, you need an extra pin for wiring the indicator in the TF unit I presume.
Is it an easy diy to remove the pins from the plug and fit them in the correct way for the TF or have you cut the plug (leaving a few inches of wire) and resoldered them to the original wiring in the correct way?

Cut the wires and resolder bringing the indicator wire into the plug. I will try to get a picture tomorrow, I will have the camera out it being Xmas day, so I will disappear briefly and open the bonnet for you.

Hopefully I will send it to you before I start festivities otherwise you may need to wait until the next day.

Happy Xmas

Thanks Chris, but please let all this not influence your X-mas, even worse, if you're out in the cold people may start to gossip.
I can wait a few days no problem at all.

Happy X-mas to you,

Hi Marten, there's an article regarding exactly this in the MGF Register web site by Geoff Baron: http://www.mgcars.org.uk/carclub/mgfregister/archives/articles/F2TF/

Hope this helps :o)

Hello Rob,

Thanks for your link to the article, although I must say Chris has done a marvelous job by spending half the time of Christmas day, almost missing X-mas dinner, by helping me with essential information and pic's.
But in the article again everything is written down how the complete conversion is done including how the obstacles are solved, which is very useful.

Thanks again,

Marten
