MG TD TF 1500 - 1/2 tonneau cover installation
Again I come to this site for help. I recently purchased a 1952 mg td. The PO bought a new 1/2 tonneau cover from MOSS about 2 years ago. The cover snaps into the body but I cannot find the attachment points for the snaps in the front. The cover has 3 - 12" elastic bands with snap locks making the cover look sloppy as it flaps in the wind. I called Moss and was told that they snap to receivers that are the floor. For starters they don't reach the floor but if they should how would you get your arm out after 3 connections? Moss overcharges ( my thought) and yet they don't have an answer to what should be a simple answer? I then called the LBCC. he was honest, has no idea, but he did refer me to Robbins Auto Tops LLC. I e-mailed them but have idea if they will respnd, it isn't their product. |

ST - You now have the true reason for the tonneau on the seat backs. The front of the half tonneau and the straps go over the bar and the straps attach to the snaps on the seat back (probably no longer there, but can be installed easily). Cheers - Dave |

I guess you snap the snaps on the seat back and THEN attach the tonneau to the rear and side of the tub. Maybe? Jud |

ST Here is a photo of the lift the dot fasteners on the seat back for a half tonneau on a very early unrestored TD. Whether they are lift the dot fasteners or snaps it wouldn't matter, they could still be in the same spot. Rob. ![]() |
