MG TD TF 1500 - 4 years, 1 month, 22 days

After all that time, the '54 TF is finally finished. Okay, well, the convertible top has not been installed and a tire has to be mounted on the spare wheel, but besides that this car is finished for all practical purposes. I will post 4 photos to show the finished results.

For those of you who have followed my journey in this restoration and have been so very helpful when I needed it, a very heart-felt thank you. To say I couldn't have done it without you is an understatement. Hopefully, I will be able to meet more of you personally as I travel the roads in this wonderful machine, my '54 mgtf.

Cheers to all -- John

Congratulation John on a job well done. It's hard to believe it is the same car that you first showed us. You and your son have done a great job and I am sure you will realize that all the time and effort was worth while. Now drive it.

Great news John! Make sure you get that top done in the winter months. We just might need it on our road trip next summer! Lookin forward to having a driving partner in the area. Now I just have to finish re-mounting my side curtains.

Thanks guys, all of your kind comments are much appreciated. As most of you know I installed the Skyhook 5-speed tranny and also did the 4.3 conversion in the differential. The engine was rebuilt, with among other things, the goal on kicking up the horse power, albeit with no supercharger though. I plan to report on how well this system works both for Interstate speeds and "ease" of traveling over our mountain road here in Washington state. I know that most who have done these conversions have opted to do either one of the 5-speeds currently available or the 4.3 (or other ratio) conversion, but not both. As the weather permits, I'll try to have a thorough write-up of my findings and post here on the BBS.

Michael O'Brien -- The best way to see what this TF looked like upon arrival is to go to my web-site mgtf54.blogspot.com and view the restoration process from beginning to end.

Thanks all -- John

Congratulations!

You will love the way the TF combines pre war "air" with excellent road holding , performance and braking. A five speed conversion is very important to release the full potential of the TF in today's motoring environment. A time warp machine !

Jan

Really cool in BRG. My TF is white and of course not an original color. I like mine fine, but I think TFs look best in BRG. Great job and a big improvement from when you got it. Ron
