Well, it's her birthday and as à gift to both of us I took her out for à 30 mile ride on this beautiful day. She liked it very much and purred like a little kitten... Jasper |

Jasper, When my TD "Sir Scotty" was 60 back on 30 August I took him for a nice drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway here in Virginia. He still has his original paint from when he was born at the factory. You car looks great. I'm glad your enjoying it like I am. I'm taking Sir Scotty out later this afternoon. Cheers, David.... |

Van harte proficiat Jasper ! My TD (3232) turned 61 on September 11th. Unfortunately not a date to celebrate anything ! Did your MG come to Holland through the importer Molenaar or was it a private import ? Cheers, Nick, TD3232 |
Nick Herwegh |
Nick, Hartstikke bedankt! Leuk om op dit BBS ook eens in het Nederlands te communiceren... And yes, my TD is a so-called Molenaar import. In fact she was number 26 out of a total of 127 imported TD's by Molenaar. I've got this information (and much more) from Mr Wiard Krook of MG TTO. He has access to the Molenaar archives. Of course I wanted a Molenaar badge on the car. It took me a lot of time but finally I succeeded. It did cost me a lot of money, but, as they say, 'never cry about spilled milk'. See pic. Hallo Jasper, van harte gefeliciteert met haar verjaardag en nog vele fijne jaren toegewenst! Yes, it was a wonderful day yesterday to celebrate just anything around the TD. Groetjes, Huib |

Jasper, Thanks for the reply. Do you happen to know if Molenaar imported complete MG's or were these CKD-kits assembled at their own plant in Amersfoort ? By the way: nice Molenaar badge ! Usually these are picked up by the Morris Minor guys.... Nick, TD3232 |
Nick Herwegh |
Nick, Molenaar imported a total of 127 TD's. Amongst them not more than a handful of frames (NL = chassis) for the production of race specials. As far as I know they did not import TD-CKD's, only complete cars + some frames. Their assembly lines were dedicated to Morris cars. Jasper |
Jasper L Nederhoed |
Nick, After a little research I can be more precise: 11 of the 127 imported TD's were frames only. So a total of 116 complete TD's and 11 frames were imported by Molenaar. The chassis numbers of the frames-only were: TD/8553 chassis TD/8759 chassis TD/9582 chassis TD/9583 chassis TD/9584 chassis TD/9585 chassis TD/9769 chassis TD/9770 chassis TD/9771 chassis TD/9772 chassis TD/9773 chassis Jasper |

Hi Jasper. Mine is 4139. So. Oct 23 1950 was a Monday (day you car was done). My car was made the following Wednesday. 174 cars in 8 days or nearly 22 cars per day or around 100+ a week. (If they only worked 5 days a week) That fits perfectly with Richards car coming off the line the next day, and Nicks coming off about 5 to 6 weeks prior to that. |

Came across a photo of CKD cars being shipped out.... thought it interesting.....(i'm assuming this is CKD...although i thought they went out in primer and these look a tad glossy?)

Thanks once more Jasper for the great information on TD chassis ! I'm amazed they had chassis numbers !!! Apparently two batches and two separate deliveries according to the numbers ??? Nick, TD3232 |
Nick Herwegh |
Nick, I think you're right. The first 2 chassis numbers came in one shipment, and a couple of weeks later in 1951 the last 9 also in one shipment. I myself are curious what Molenaar did with those chassis and of course if one or two are still around. I'll ask Wiard Krook and let you know! Jasper |

Nick, You may have noticed that I've put 2 video's about the production of Morris Minors on this forum. Very nice to see! During 1949 - 1966 Molenaar 'CKD'-assembled the following models: 15.000 Morris Minor 2.500 Morris Oxford some MGA some MG Magnette some Austin A40 Farina Morris trucks and vans 4.358 Mini’s (both Austin 7 and Morris Mini Minor). No mg td! Jasper |
