MG TD TF 1500 - a simple question to the experts - FORD Type 9

Hi friends,
just a simple question to you. I have done the 5-speed conversion recently and the car runs better than new. It was an excellent invest in money and working hours.
But I have some issues. If the engine is hot transmission won't shift in the first gear or I have to press very hard. If the engine is cold I have not found this issue.
Second point, if I shift into the rear gear without any movement of the car of cause, then it's very noisy all the teeth come together and the sound is like Rrrrrrr.
I believe the clutch is not exact adjusted and I have work on this but is there any other suggestion from your side?
Thank you
Cheers,
Guenter

Hi Guenter, I first just wanted to share your enthusiasm with the Ford Sierra 5 speed conversion project. It has absolutely transformed my car. As well as the overdrive and syncro on fisrt, you have the advantage of not losing power on grades. as with the 4.3 rear end conversions. I also did experience a problem with a growling noise, on my first installation, so I returned it to Peter Gamble at Hy-Gear under warranty, and have since installed another one at no cost, which has been performing beautifully. I used a synthetic gear oil in the box, and everything seems to work smoothly. Good luck, Phil

Guenter; Sounds like you need a bit more release on the clutch. Less "free travel" or slack should allow the disc to release fully and aid in engaging low and reverse. Congratulations on the change over - should make your drive more enjoyable. Dan

Guenter, How well do your radio speakers perform at cruise speed with the top down? Your location looks like it might be a bit better than mine which are located under the dash panel.
Jim Merz

Jim, it works well on cruising speed around 45mph. If you go faster the wind noise becomes more predominance but it works.
After changing the transmision and changing all the rubber parts in the steering and front suspension including tires I have the impression that the noise level inside the car is significant reduced that's help to enjoy the music.
Cheers,
Guenter
