MG TD TF 1500 - Ammeter

Ammeter shows on the positive ide when I turn on the key and pump runs. Car is not running, just the fuel pump. Do I have the ammeter wires wrong. New harness.

I guess so. Just switch the wires!

Or battery backwards, positive ground was original. George

I would confirm by turning on lights etc; if ammeter is reversed, will show even more in the positive side.
