MG TD TF 1500 - AMOUNT OF GAS IN TANK....!

Allo.

I've search, but no joy.

What is the 'yardstick' approach to
learning how much gas is in the gas
tank....?

I use USA gallons in my 1950 mg td #0823.
So, how many inches on the USA yardstick
will egual a full tank of USA--15 gallons...?

I've seen a guide somewhere, but it's lost.

Your thoughts.......?

TIA

Dear D.R.
Just buy the $7 graduated stick from Moss or Abingdon and that will do the calculating for you. Invaluable.

The metal one Abingdon sell (65-033) is nicer, but will set you back $50. Also its only in US gals. We need metric in Canada.

Nice, but not worth it and easily lost (left behind, like I did mine!)

Anyone have a pdf or plans of the stick? I'd like to make one from etched stainless steel.

email it to me if you could.

You might also check with Bob Wrenn, he makes a stainless dip stick that fits into the filler. It also prevents the usual fuel slosh when the tank is full.

No pecuniary interest, just a satisfied customer.

Jim-how would one locate Bob Wrenn?

My goodness. You guys must all be retired and not have nagging wives! I rechecked the price for Moss's stick. Only $4.

One of the guys in our club makes sticks of SS and they have holes in them to see where the gas is. It is pretty neat and easy to make. fits right in the cap and is always there. Everyone in our club has one and most of us use them. I will take a photo later and post online.

Tom Maine: Could you post his contact info, as that sounds a slick way to check gas. Thanks.

Thanks for those .pdfs guys. I'll see what I can make up with it.

Does anyone have a picture of the actual dipstick?

Tom, I would except he only has a phone number and no E mail. Says computers are to much trouble... I will ask him if he is willing to give his number out and will let you know via private e mail if so. It is a neat deal, Somewhere on this site I have posted a picture of it. Can't remember which thread it was. Will try and locate photo and post again.
