MG TD TF 1500 - andrex shock absorbers

Hi, I am new here and just restoring a mg td/C 1951
The TD/C had originally andrex shock absorbers.
Two still exists, but inside all was rotten. Has someone more detailed information, plans or better a link, where I can get parts?

Michael - they are hard to find - both the shocks themselves, and someone to rebuild them! Peter Caldwell at Worldwide here in the US really does not like to take them on, unfortunately, as he is the best. There may be someone in the UK who does it.

That being said, there are several problems - the shaft gets pitted, the shaft seal does not seal any longer so they leak, the wooden discs and steel plates are broken, worn or corroded, and the correct oil is very hard to find in small quanities. The wooden discs were available from Abingdon Spares, I believe (or maybe Moss, I forget), but seals and oil must be sourced.

Which two do you have, because I do have a few spares. And what is your TD/C chassis number?

I did a lot of looking around last time this came up, a year or two back, check archives. Check with the Triple M guys, somebody does them and has parts.

Excellent work, including seals to the shaft. It took more than a little time, so I would check with him first what his turnround time is currently.

Tom - The front shocks were still there, when I bought the car.
Number is TD/C 7740 EXR (may)1951

I tried once to duplicate the housing with sandcasting.
that worked quite well, but naturally this is just one small part of the whole thing. So every additional part is welcome
