MG TD TF 1500 - Another TD2 'Mark II'

They never end. A dealer is selling this TD2 as a Mark II car, eBay 330548769353. It appears to have 1-1/2" SU's, but nothing else. You would think they could do a little on-line checking to see both genuine TD/C serial numbers and erroneous TD2 "Mark II" descriptions. Google "mg td Mark II TD2" and see what information is out there.

Confusion abounds. Even though there's info out there, I'm going to add to it in the coming weeks and put up a page on one of my sites spelling out the Mark II's differences. It probably won't help the mistaken eBay sellers, but it'll increase the chances of potential buyers finding accurate information.

Sad...It seems more and more sellers do "enough" research to figure out an MKII is "worth more" ...so that's what they "want" to sell!
Too bad Abingdon did not make an "MG TE" model!

I see the same thing with other cars.
Been looking for a few years for the right deal on a 68 Firebird convertable (was my "1st car"). Amazing that most of them have V8 engines. There were a lot of OHC 6 made ...but there are very few of those that ever show up without a V8 in them! Not that I wouldn't consider a car with this "mod" but most of the sellers tend to omit that information...only stating the car has a "400" engine. Some of them have got somewhat irrate when I have pointed out to them that their car was not built with a V8 and as such is not as "valuable" as a true documented example with correct orginial engine.

I feel sorry for the buyer that doesn't do their homework these days!

I messaged them to point out their error. They have a tiny little correction ALL THE WAY at the bottom of the ad.

And their asking $26K for the car, or there abouts...

The more I learn, the more I love these cars! And I don't even own one yet! ;-)
