MG TD TF 1500 - Armstrong shocks

I the lever-action rear shocks off of my 52 MG TD and am confused. Do these markings make sense?:

The left is marked "Armstrong" in large letters on the body and shows "5698/RH" stamped on the mounting flange.
The right looks the same is also market "Armstrong" (in this case around the shaft rather than on the face) and shows "5698/RH" on the mounting flange

PS: I guess there is a right and left shock and that I must have two of the right? What is the difference between them?

mgaviator,

http://www.nosimport.com/shoxcatalog.htm indicates that there is a 'right' and 'left' Armstrong shock absorber. Why not email thme and ask what the difference is?

Thanks, did just that. Apparently, Armstrong did a poor job in marking and I do in fact have one of each. In the end, if they fit on the car, they were correct. At least that is what I have figured out.
