MG TD TF 1500 - Bonnet latches TF

Were the bonnet latch assembles on a TF cadmium plated? All or only part? How about the latch plates bolted to the bonnet it's self, were they plated or painted?
Shame I can't save the original bolts holding the plates to the bonnet, as their snapping in half getting them apart. New bolts are in order. PJ

The internal parts were cad' plated (including the latch plates) and external parts chrome plated.
Can you save the Simmonds nuts?
Pic is my car with factory paint and what's left of the cad plating.

Matthew.

Here is a picture of the time capsule TF with 5,000 miles on it.

Matthew, The nuts have half of the bolt still in them as the bolts broke in half in the middle. If I can soak them in a solution, it might be possible to save the nuts, they are rusted in the threads pretty bad. I have some replacement bolts, I need to get more. I don't know if I can save the nuts, I'll try. Thanks Dave & Matthew for the info on the plated parts. PJ

Paul: Don't forget Frank Cronin's excellent portfolio of pictures

And there are other unmolested pics in related pages. This sort of stuff, like Dave and Matthews picture above, are the greatest asset to me when restoring. I can never get enough of them.

Chris, Thanks for the link! I've seen those pictures before, but never book marked them. Their book marked now! They really answer a lot of questions. PJ

I think I'm going to buy the Eastwood kit and see how well it works for the zinc coated stuff. From what I've read, most of the guys are happy with it. Hopefully I can get the chrome done in Tulsa in a reasonable time frame. Hopefully it'll work out so I can hand deliver and pick up. I don't want to send my chrome parts out through the mail. Seems like more stuff is coming through the mail damaged to some extent. Fedex, UPs,USPS, makes no difference, their all getting careless with our stuff! PJ
