Quite high volumes by 2010? At 16,500 pounds, (aroudh $33,000 US) i looks like our beloved marque has become just another rich mans car. Really a shame.

The Miata, and the Pontiac/Saturn 2 seaters show that there is a market for a lower price sports car. Guess the Chinese figure they can compete with BMW for the Z4. Time will tell.

16500 Pounds is a good price by UK standards, the Miata (MX-5) sells for 18000 here. This has always been the case, when I bought a new midget in 1973 I found that they sold all taxes and delivery paid in America for the factory gate price here.
Mind you this is in line with our gas prices, at
present 5 per imp gallon that is $8 per US gallon.

Bruce, if the price includes the V.A.T which the last time I checked was 17.5% then that would translate to about $ 27,000. Still on the high side in my book. My wife's brother inlaw just bought his wife a new Saturn Sky for $ 24,000. I'm not sure there is going to be any kind of market for the TF IF it ever gets to the states. The deal on the Sky was nothing down, zero interest, just start making payments. They must be hurting to get rid of them. The car goes and stops like stink and handles like glue. The down side is there is zilch for luggage space, erogrinomicaly disfuncional ( my knee kept hitting the door lock switch on every corner) and looks like its styling was done by the same folks who brought us the godzilla movies. Also, owners will certainly look foward to the day they have to change battery. You have to remove the fender to do so. I don't really care anymore if the MG name comes back to the states. To me they are no longer a true MG. Just another Mao mobile which could be assembled anywhere.

'(zilch for luggage space, erogrinomicaly disfuncional ( my knee kept hitting the door lock switch on every corner)' ....hmmmm ... where have i found that before????

I expect more for something thats 60 years newer Gordon. My B is more comfortable to ride in than the Sky. That ain't right.

Kinda like the TD, except you have to remove the bonnet (hood)to change the battery. ;^)

Ok, Looks like it's a modern T. Sky has no spare tire. But it does have a built in air compressor. It has cup holders but not really one you could use. I think with the top up it will actually keep the rain out. Given a choice I'd take a TR 8 hands down.
