MG TD TF 1500 - Color of TF seat back rail.

Can anyone tell me the correct color that the seat back rail should be painted for a TF? Mine was black. My interior is biscuit so should it be black or biscuit? Thanks for your help.

It should be interior color, thus tan for your car.

I have seen original rails painted the same ugly yellow brown as the original (which I have) window frames and I have seen them in chrome.....which look much nicer. Our TF came with chrome rails. This was an export car to Ger. and may account for the chrome.

Original red interior TF1500 had red rails. When restored with tan interior, we painted tan.

Interesting, Colin. My TF, which originally was an export to Singapore, had chrome 'towel' rails when I got it. I've painted them to match my new interior, since I assumed it was (one of many) P.O. botch jobs. The chrome was in poor shape, anyway.

My TF 1500 (Jan.15, 1955..US Model) has good chrome rails. Don't know if original!

Most others I have seen were painted window frame tan or red. No help.
