MG TD TF 1500 - Disassembling TD Gearbox
I'm about to start a restoration job on the gearbox from my TD. I saw a note somewhere on the web that stated that the nut on the first motion shaft was a left-hand thread type - is this the case? There is no reference to this on any other documentation that I have, including the Workshop Manual. |

I don't have a ready answer for you but may I suggest that you purchase the DVD from the MGCar Club titled "Stripping & Rebuilding the mg td & TF Series Gearbox". This really is a must-have and goes through the stripping and rebuilding process along with many little tidbits of information. I recently completed the rebuild of my TD box and I referred to the video on a few instances when I couldn't remember how things had come apart.......or in some cases when a previous owner had bodged something and I wanted to know how it should be put together.
