MG TD TF 1500 - Distinctive MG TD Color

For those of you that may be pondering a new paint job for the TD please take a look at this new posting to eBay. Here's one combination.

Distinctive is one word for it, but probably not the one I whoud have chosen;) Dave

There is no accounting for taste... For some reason, when I look at the pictures of this "colorful" MG, I get visuals of the Joker from the Batman movie driving it... It has a "comic book" look about it... Is it just me, or does that strike anyone else the same way?

Another perspective is that it kind of looks like the paint job on a "bumper car" at a carnival... Like I said, there is no accounting for taste...

The question it brings to mind is, How do you adjust the pedals to accommodate clown shoes?

Talk about alot of wasted work!

Evan Ford - TD 27621

Not for nothing it's being offered for sale at "Greeneville" .....

>>This car is a real "Classic Beauty" and is sure to turn heads.<<

Now this is what I call an understatement....8^)

As Simon Cowel of "American Idol" fame would say, "I don't mean to be offensive, but that is absolutely hideous."

What a pitty, since the work seems to be meticulous....

Say, wasn't that car on the old 'Banana Splits' television show? Na, na, na ... nana na na ...

Sorry, that's all I remember of the theme song.

That's exactly what I was thinking Rod, Beautifully done, but the guy is colorblind (as I am, but I can see bright yellow. I just can't see red or green, both look brown to me.) So when I finish my car with ivory tub and BRG wings, and a green interior, it will look cream and crackers to me.

Look at his hood prop.

To me it looks like John Deer Green, which I love and used on my BSA, and wouldn't mind on a TD as long as the whole car is John Deer Green. I have never been receptive to "TWO TONES" on any vehicle. The only TWO TONES that were close to being acceptable were back in the '50's, Ford had that Pink/Charcoal,Buick/Olds had a couple nice ones, Dodge had a nice THREE TONE, also, back then. I lost two uncles and my Godfather in WWII and I have never owned a yellow car. Hey that's just me. Have a nice MG day.

What ever happened to the MGTD done in a "plaid theme" (even the engine block) owned by a "Scotty" from the Chicagoland area? Had one of those J.C.Whitney "I got a million songs" horns, too!

Inquiring minds want to know.

Wow, I just noticed the starting bid. I looked because it would only take about $1,000 to take the wings off and match them to the rest so I thought, "so what if" till I saw THAT. Of course we all hope that he gets it.

I MIGHT have forgiven him had it not been for the whitewall tyres.
G.E. Love

Sorry to say, but its mate is being offered at another auction, (don't have # off hand), a LHD YA, with the same apparent level of attention to everything but the colour mix-match.

Damn you Mark - Now I have that song stuck in my head.

How much you think he has in that paint job? Shame, the same money might have gotten him a paint job that would have nearly warrented the asking price.

BTW. The hood prop he has is sime as I made, they work well. Only difference is I put felt in the cutouts' to keep the paint from rubbing.

I'm sorry...hopefully the owner isn't a member of this bulletin board...but that is one gawdawful color combination. Geesh...turn out the lights, the party's over.
Gene Gillam

Whew....hard on the eyes with the bonnet open!!!! Anyway... its now in the database (with a couple ??? after the "colour".
gordon lawson - TD 27667

Oh, I was just thinking, That would be the perfect TD for a Wisconsin Pakers fan - TGhen again there are some limits I would go to for the packers.
Bruce Cunha

Wow;
He even color coordinated the plug wires.

The listing is http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=4550540369&category=6314&sspagename=WDVW
and it is MUCH easier on the eye (to me, at least).

That YA is a nice car, I wonder what the story is with it being about 85-90% restored and abandoned? It's kind of sad to see someone got this far with a project and decided not to finish it. It will end up being the gain for whoever buy it, I guess, since the buyer will get a big discount, and a mostly complete restoration.

OK ..when I purchased the TF I thought the "yellow" was a little "too" bright and the red dash really bothered me with the black interior. (Felt like I needed size 27 red & white striped shoes and a yellow jumpsuit or a "fez" to drive it)...glad I changed it. The amazing thing here is the quality of workmanship...simply beautiful! I guess the up side would be if you ever got in an accident and the other drive claimed to "not see you comming".....don't think THAT would ever stand up in court!

By the way Mark, I couldn't for the life of me figure out why I kept hearing the Bananna Splits theme in my head at work all day yesterday....thanks!
Cheers,

Regarding the TD, I think it looks quite nice, but I wouldn't go so far as to choose the colour scheme for my own car. At least it will be seen by other drivers, especially at night.
Roger Wilson

Um, IMHO it looks like the offspring of Noddy's car and Chitty Chity Bang Bang...
