MG TD TF 1500 - Gas Tank

I have a pretty good tank on my TD, but the inside is rusty and this is a constant source of clogs at the fuel outlet at the bottom. Has anyone in my area found someone that can effectively boil out the tank?
Also, after cleaning, is the etch and coating sold by Moss or Hirsch effective?

If you want to do it yourself take a look at http://www.frost.co.uk They stock POR products from the States. The suggested procedure is to clean out the tank with Marine Clean (Catalogue number S204) Then use POR 15 Metal Ready (S205) which sorts out the rust, followed by POR 15 Petrol Petrol Tank Sealer. If these products are half good as POR15 Paint the Tank should last for ever.

Some rad shops do gas tanks... had mine done for $125.00... chemically cleaned, inside coated. Couldn't have bought all the separate ingrediants for that.... give a few shops a call.

Steve, I have taken several tanks to my local radiator shop for boil out. They clean up well and remove all traces of fuel and rust to allow for repairs if needed. They used to go out to the airport using airport transfers tunbridge wells and buy epoxy to coat the insides of the tanks but no longer do so. I will need to coat the inside of my tank soon.

Mr Tobias -
I just picked up '67 midget, not run in about 20 years. I have drained out old gas, oil, etc. cleaned the fuel pump, etc. but I suspect that the tank is plugged on outlet (can't get gas to the fuel pump). so, my question is on how do you clean yours out?? and then i wonder if this will be a repetitive thing as well..

Use Marine clean the these POR15 products.

Had to remove the filter over the fuel line and clean it out... don't know about the midget, but the td had one in the tank at the fuel outlet...fine brass mesh that was almost totally clogged with old gas crud.
Also sprayed various cleaners down the fuel line, then blew it out with air a day or two later...got lots of black crud out.
