MG TD TF 1500 - Gotta love this website.

With the help of this site I have perfectly fitting doors, backup fuel pump (which is now my primary temporarily) got the charging system sorted out yesterday (just needed to clean the contacts in the regulator) and next is getting the turn signals sorted out (found some flasher alternatives on this site as well.)

I really need to have a computer in the shop I guess and save the walking.

Won't be long and I'll be working on the brakes, then an actual test drive. Getting stoked.

I've got some pretty extensive notes on my full brake rebuild last year. If you're interested in them, please send me an e-mail message and I will forward the notes to you. (I used the archives from this discussion board and other sources in putting my notes together.)

...or not.

Garry, I sent an e-mail to the address I inferred from your posting header, but it was not correct. Please send an e-mail message directly to me and I will send you my notes.

Larry, how about another request for your brake package
Jon Levine

Larry sorry thought email address was automatic email: medic109@comcast.net Does anyone know how to add email address to ID
Jon Levine

Jon,

Towards the top of the page is a "Customise" link. Click on that to make your changes. I encourage you NOT to display your e-mail address as an active link, because this is susceptible to spammers. Better is to construct your e-mail in a form like mine displays, which is not as easily intercepted by the automated software spammers use to harvest e-mail messages.

It is easy to make changes in the "Customise" section and see how they display, then refine the changes, as necessary.

I e-mailed the brake rebuild notes you requested.

Just to reinforce the statement," BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR" Immediately after receiving Larry's notes on brake rebuild I decided to take a ride down to the local beach,Nantasket. As I rounded the entrance to the town coming down a 30 degree road I lost my brakes completely only able to prevent rolling through a major intersection by the panic application of the handbrake. This was followed by a frightening ride home through 12 miles of highly developed "suburbia" with the artful use of the emergency brake. I have to mention that the brakes this AM were functioning without issue having been rebuilt last year. The request for the notes were for future, maybe a winter tune up. So the lesson is not only "be careful what you wish for but also don't over plan anything regarding a TD their natural gremlins will always frustrate and win.

Larry, I would like to get your brake notes as well. Greetings, Huib

Larry, it sounds as if your notes are in demand. If you'd send a set to me I'd be happy to post/host them on Ttalk. Bud

Huib, e-mail on its way to you.

Bud, "Brake System Rebuild Notes" on its way to you for Ttalk.

Background:
I scoured "The MG Factory Workshop Manual," Horst Schach's "The Complete MG TD Restoration Manual," this MG TD-TF Internet Bulletin Board, technical notes from other Internet websites, and other sources in putting the notes together. Along the way I discovered and had to deal with MGA drums on the front end of my TD(and a chipped drum at that). The notes are concise (if you can call six pages concise) and summarize the information I found. Several sources for parts and services are listed in the notes. The information is presented in the order it poured out of my head when I finally sat down to write it!

I hope this helps others, and welcome your feedback. I'll update the notes as it seems desirable and feed updated information to Bud for posting on Ttalk.

Thank you for your interest.

Larry, thank you for taking the time to write out your experience for others. I look forward to reading your notes. If any of the pictures from my website will help illustrate your comments, please feel free to include them on Bud's Ttalk. Simply right click on the photo and save it.

warmly,

Dave,

Thanks for the offer. I'll keep it in mind when I circle back to my brake system rebuild notes. I have this fantasy that our dedicated band put together a TD-TF Wikipedia to which we all contribute. This would be an evolving and integrated collection of materials for the restoration and maintenance of T-series MGs that would include text, diagrams, and pictures. It would be a compliment to this website, which has much of this information, but requires some work to dig it all out.

Help! My head is too stuffed with ideas!

You guys are going to force me to do a write-up on voltage regulators. Any subjects/aspects I should particularly address?
Cheers,

Bob
