MG TD TF 1500 - Have YOU finished your T's projects?

Well, I have...and have not...YET...

So far, I have:
1. Completed the leather trunk for the rear rack...but not finished the interior ...yet
2. Completed the custom leather straps to hold the trunk to the rack.
3. Completed (with Gordon Lawson's VERY generous help) installation of a light switch panel for the fog and driving lights...but not hooked up the wiring, yet.
4. Replaced the BATTERY...only after swapping, checking the generator and voltage regulator!...but I haven't yet hooked up the wipers to the regulator...yet.
5. Added a new photographic technique with "light painting" of the TD...(very cool)...but not done a full length version...yet.

Hmmmm....anybody else wondering what this magical word "yet" is all about? Is it a male term used to describe/defend procrastination? Is it a place in space and time that is given a "sacred" level of recognition???

Sooooo....what projects have YOU guys finished...er...or not finished...YET?

Octagonally,

Anybody who claims to have completely finished all the projects and repairs to their MG is deluding them selves. The work is NOT finished, the MG is just taking a rest ;)

You've been busy Dave. Afraid my list is not as impressive.

1. Installed a Lucas chrome sub panel with push button Lucas start switch, pull Lucas fog lamp switch, Lucas pull driving light switch, and Lucas amber warning light to indicate one or both lamps is/are on. All wired up with Dave DuBois' excellent help. Wired all up, complete with diodes for the lamp, and it all actually works! (not so common for some things I do)Added aux fuse box for the above.

2. Installed Lucas 494 red fog lamp, and Lucas 494 reversing lamp on rear (after adding Moss reverse light switch to gearbox).

3. Replaced pull start solenoid with early MGB electric solenoid with remote start.

4. Installed silicone valve cover gasket (Yea, no more leaks!!)

5. Installed Lucas Sports Coil in anticipation of pertronix install (Yet :-)

6. Build 2' x 4' litter box for under the car :-)

7. Chased all spark plug hole threads and installed proper 3/4" reach plugs, and new Lucas bumble bee plug wires and H/T lead.

8. Replaced mounting hardware and clamp for the tach reduction gearbox, and it is now rock solid.

I'm sure there's more, but that's it for now. Pales by comparison to most on this forum with what you folks are able to do.

Cheers

I'm waiting for my tub :( I hope to see it soon!

In the meantime, installed the clutch rods.
painted the side curtain frames and hood bows
installed the proper shift lever knob
installed new bumbers and rechromed my overriders
chromed windscreen frame and installed new glass
added lighting to my instrument fascia
assembled my hubcaps
installed my steering wheel and column
aligned the front end (I think!)
added Dave DuBois excellent brake relay system
rebuilt the side and rear lamps
stripped and rechromed all the chrome, except the gas tank side plates
installed and reparked the windscreen wiper system (it was 90 degrees off)

Just a bunch of little projects while waiting for the tub so I can get to the interior, hood, tonneau and wiring. Because of the delay of the tub, I don't expect to have the car ready in time for the GOF 2007 Central which is held in my home town this year. No sense in rushing and missing the enjoyment of finishing the car, but I do regret another summer not driving it. What if I forgot how?

I think I have more Yet's than actual Done's. I finally managed to get the engine and gearbox installed and carbs rebuilt. Wiring and firing the engine for the first time is coming. Dave B, I've used your site for many references and I'm looking forward to seeing your completion. My latest status can be seen at:

Wow its great to see how many projects are on going and going and going.......I started my tear down in October 2006 with the goal of having her on the road by may 2007. Things were going at a blistering pace...then I sent the engine out for machine work. First I couldn't find the " pistons", then no available cam followers then poor quality lower connecting rod bolts, then tracking down allen head pnch bolts,then....well you get the idea That was late Nov.But it has still been a blast. The extra time has allowed me to do dozens of detail items which should help.

Woops pushed the wrong button..For now the frame is sandblasted and painted , suspension including rebuilt shocks etc. all done, dash & instruments done ,complete brake system with silicon conversion and Alfin drums done, steering rack done ,rad done, Smiths heater rebuilt, wiper motor rebuilt, distibutor refurbished, water pump rebuilt, starter rebuilt, side curtain and top frames painted. I expect the engine all the painted body work and back ordered transmission parts to arrive next week. On the same day likely ;~) Ha ! I feel like a kid waiting for Santa Claus!! Cheers, Keith

Dave Runnings,

Very nice work. I wish I had your talent for the tub work. I definitely started with a car that needed less work than yours. You have done a beautiful job... and I finally learned to work the slide show feature on Webshots! Thanks for sharing your pictures, and for the compliment.

Got the oil pressure issue figured out. Now I still need to rod the copper oil tube to see if there is a restriction in it and if not, send the guage off for fixing.

Also have a few chips that are down to metal that I need to touch up.

I am also putting headrest brackets in the seats of my 67 B GT.

Projects this winter so far:
Possible elimination of 1 (of 3) "Gray men in thin suits" ...although still paying for him. (one less lawyer is a good thing!)

Installation of dehumidifier to deal with basement "excess humidity" whilst awaiting "plan of action" concerning up-date of current home heating system dating back to 1912. (an "ongoing project" that has had many "lookers" since early summer ...but so far only one that has re-turned a call after "looking")...with of course the exception of Sears that wants to rip-out several walls, all H20 pipes, put in duck-work, and install 4 heat pumps at 3 times the cost of the house!)

Re-built several old furnace fans to keep some air moving over freshly sanded parts at "Abingdon Hootersville North" to prevent "flash-rust"

Cheers....lot's of Cheers....in anticipation of warmer days ahead!
