LaVerne - "Always am intrigued by past wiring practice"

I think that "practice" is a misnomer, that was more like standing 5 feet away and throwing the wires at the car.

"I'm guessing these were originaly Girlings" It may not have been. Armstrong shocks were substituted for Girlings somewhere in 53.

I am assuming that the car was converted to negative ground since the Facet fuel pump that is mounted on that "bracket" is a negative ground unit (and a bit of overkill for a TD). Great project! Cheers - Dave

"Some assembly required" as they say...enjoy,
I would love to "help" you when it's time to paint. Just give me the word-no kidding!!

....and where did you get that great MG sign.....(covet, covet, covet)!

The shade tree shimming of the bolts in the front shocks certainly would be consistant with a change from the thicker mounting pads of the Girling shocks to the relatively thin mount bosses of the Armstrongs. Girlings would probably be correct with this cars build date. Do the front fenders have a raised area in the shock mounting location? These were added with the change to the Armstrongs for the clearance needed. Dan
Dan Craig

As Dan has suggested, the Armstong front shocks were probably replacements, as the rear are Girling and it would be interesting to know if the front wings were modified to clear the Armstrong shocks.

Ed,
I'd like to get some new paint on it before the end of summer but we'll see.

Robert,
That dash was off a 62 that was beyond help and went to the crusher after removing everything of use. The bulb holders went on the TF and a gear or two out of the spedo or tach went into the TF speedometer. Need a good rebuildable 1098cc 1 7/8 journal block or a suspicious smooth case tranny? Few other bits but not much of worth.

Gordon,
Guy in Wyoming makes em if you have more money than sense

Dan,

The front fenders have a bump out but I noticed a little dark red on the inner flange surface which leads me to believe that they may have been swaped out.
I'll run a scan on the PC. Thanks for the heads up.

George,

With the funky bolt arangement and a couple of bolts missing on the right hand side I'm guessing they were originaly Girlings.
LED DOWNEY

Making quick work of the tear down Led. The frame boo boo is interesting. How do you do that to the top of the frame? I could see underside, but top?
