MG TD TF 1500 - MG T data base

Our postings the other week regarding body numbers on the TD got me to thinking it would be nice to have one or two of the "lists" in a data base that could be sorted various ways.
Thought i might put together a web based data base (i know, another one) and keep a record that was available on the web as new cars signed on...
I set up a data base on our club site and tried to write the code... didn't have much luck so had someone who knew what they were doing do it.
Have tested it various ways, and although there are a few other things to add, it seems to be functioning...included TA/TB/TC's as well as TD and TF's... They will able to be viewed separately with a bit more code.
I collected about 38 TD's info from the forum and ebay...as well as D. Herwegh's list. There may be some errors in the collected data, you can email me (a correction form will be included later) and i can make the changes.
Anyway... take a look, enter data if you want... email address's are not on the final list.

Looks great Gordon !!!
Finally someone takes up the enormous amount of work to compile a complete list of T-types.
As soon as I have significantly more numbers, I'll send them over.
Good luck !!
Nick, 52TD/63midget.

Thanks... i put that poor little "rust bucket" in yesterday... felt like i was carving a tombstone....
Interesting that some 51/52's are showing up out of order....?

Gordon, I always hoped for space to include spare block/engine numbers. Neither the block in my car nor the spare are original to the car -- interesting to know who's "motor-in-law" I am.
Will email you some corrections.

Thanks Dennis... noticed i had two entries with your name (sort of) and wondered which was correct.
Thought about another engine number, but didn't know how many vehicles that would affect?
Add a ? after the engine number if it has been changed, same as the paint.

OK I entered everything I could remember at this hour (cocktail time). So tomorow I will try to look for some of those body numbers that were asked for. And tell that JERK WITH THE COKE TO GET HIS SHOES OFF THE BOARD before he scratches the paint!!!

Just send me an email with the body numbers and i will enter them...
Oh those damn photographers/art directors

I would like to let all know that the only shoes I have EVER worn driving an MGTD are "CLARK'S DESERT BOOTS". I bought my first pair in 1955 at Jacobson"s in Grosse Pointe MI. They are soft shoes and have a soft sole that will never damage anything on or about an MGT series vehicle. You can still buy them in England at the Clark's store on Oxford street. I bought my recent last four pair in 1990 when I didn't have a TD but had my 1970 Rover3500S but now that I'm back into a TD I'm so glad I did. For those that don't know what I'm talking about I guess I will have to take a couple pics and slip them on to my pics web site.

sO ...AT THE RISK OF OPENING THIS CAN OF WORMS ...AGAIN!
Do you want "actual year" car made ..or year tittled?
I always refer to my TF as a "55" because that is how it is tittled ...but it was really "built" in Oct. of 54.
hmmmmmmmmm.

Am starting to see a few get "out of order" as far as chassis numbers are concerned...Think this is one reason the DB will be interesting. I think there are a couple of 51's that were registered in '52 and that is the reason.
I will leave it up to you.... or, lets do the title date as that is what most 'new' owners will go by, and we will see pretty quickly when it was actually built.
(thats a good Canadian way of doing things)

My TD #5554 was titled as a 1952, but came off the line on January 18th 1951. So I got a letter on club letterhead from the club president attesting to the date of manufacture and took it to the licence office. Now the car is titled as a 1951 - so my dates match even if my numbers don't! I know some owners view the mislieading title date as part of the car's history. To me it made sense to get it changed.
Ted Jackson

That should make your numbers now match the cars coming off the line.. There are a number of '51/'52's showing up out of sequence.
