MG TD TF 1500 - My TDs 60th Birthday

Hi everyone,

I was going to post a question about the production date of my 1951 TD, then I found a link in the archives which had the answer. Build date Wednesday 13th June 1951.

The chassis no. is TD8254 and engine no. XPAG/TD/LHX 7239. Does anyone have numbers close to these who will also be celebrating?

A sobering thought is that I was 13yrs old when my TD rolled off the production line en-route for California.

Attached is a picture of her ready for the journey to the Channel Islands next Friday.

Cheers,

David

...mine is May 13th...and I was 6 when it rolled off the line

Mine is 60 already. Build date 27.05.51. First registered 10.05.51. Reg number ETY271. I was born 27.12.51, 8 months later.
We're off to Jersey too but I feel my registration is a fraction better

G'day all:

Re:(TD3191,EXLU; XPAG/TD/LHX3525; Build Date: 08 September, 1950 (sixty-one years of age)

Rather late entering this "thread" and the photograph was originally taken in 1977. I had no idea as to the original colour scheme, in 1971, so M.G. red and black became my choice.

The original (first owner who bought the car from a show room in December, 1950, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, sent me a coloured photograph and the colour scheme was almond green/biscuit interior.

It is now sporting those colours and I hope to have it running by this Summer (that is if we ever get Summer out here this year !)

I do not have a current photograph in the new colours.

Cheers all; respectfully:
Jack Emdall, New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada.

Hello again chaps:

I will follow Mr. Wincze's instructions but my digital photograph dresses out at 1.37 MB which I reckon will be much to large.

If it does not, I will try the route suggested by my neighbour and if that goes pear shaped--Bud, are you standing by ? I'll send it to you but hopefully at a reduced size through Outlook Express.

OK here goes Mr. Wincze's route: Right then, I have just been notified the file is to large.

Plan B: Success so far as this endeavour now informs me that the copy is 72.9 KB. Let us see what is next !

Well some notice thanked me for something, so I'll now submit it ?

Cheers for putting up with my ineptitude; respectfully:

Jack Emdall, New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada.
PS: the rims are out being painted, so please excuse the cars stands,

My car looks to be relatively youthfull. #24885, built sometime during March of 1953; 21 months my junior. I was a toddler when it was born! I will be preceeding my car (in two months) to the "dark side"!

If you have Windows Photo Gallery, you can resize easily Go to open, then Microsoft office picture manager, then under Picture, go to resize and use the 640 pixel, then save as and it will save photo of t he correct size.

Your car looks good. Hope that one day I can see it in person. I am a member of the Pre56 MG Unclub but live on Vancouver Island (Campbell River). We are currently travelling across the US and Canada and hope to be back in August.

I have had my club jacket on twice now and both times have been approached by guys wanting to know what year my "T" series car is. The bad news is that it has been fairly cold and I had to wear a warm jacket, the good news is that the US drive has been great. Not sure I would want to actually drive the TD (1950) across this far but I'm sure it would make it. We are currently in Michigan by Lake Huron and today was a scenic drive.

David, mine turned 60 on January 23, 2011 however your car is within two days of my 60th birthday.
Bob McLeod TD 5618

TD3232 also had its birthday last year. But it's interesting to note how close it is to Mr. Emdall's car. Mine was assembled on September 11th 1950; three days or 41 cars after his !
As for me: I didn't appear on this planet for another thirteen years....8^)

I don't know my birthday. :((
