Haha... having just dealt with 'window' people, I hate to think what the front and rear 'screens' would cost to have made...don't thing they were flat?

Yeah, A couple of pieces of curved laminated glass-mucho dinero!
I've always admired the way the Arnolt body worked with the TD chassis. Maybe its the color, but I never realized how short the wheelbase looked relative to the overall length. The rear overhang is huge. Of course, we sit practically on top of the rear axle in our TDs.
If the quality of this car is as good as it looks in the photos, it should bring some big bucks. Whacky sure knew what he was doing; the cars are very collectable and beautiful!

Steve,
Please educate me. What is this car?

We had one in our club until last year when it sold...believe in the $50s range (don't quote me)....lovely little car...loved the way they took the centre dash/facia and turned it upside down and put it in front of the driver... very neat!
I understand they bought complete cars and then took the tubs off and replaced the body with theirs...(???)

One of the club members I was in in the Bay area had one. Neat car.

The story is that "Wacky" Arnolt, a very large Mid-west MG dealer, approached The Bertone people at a European auto show, and rescued the design house with an order of a couple of hundred cars. Bertone, at the time, was hanging on by a thread! The bodies were hand pounded out of aluminum over wooden molds, and were installed on mg td chassis and running gear supplied my MG (sans bodies). I believe that approx 100 were built; a third of which were roadsters-obviously even rarer!
Arnolt, at the time, marketed several different specially modified MG's and other cars. Among them was a stretched 4 seat TD, which was really neat, but very underpowered! He also had a line of aftermarket accessories, such as grill inserts, heaters, luggage racks, polished valve and tappet covers, etc.
I know of one gentleman in the NY/CONN chapter that had a silver blue Arnolt, in very beautiful condition-as far as I know, he still has it.
The Arnolt MG is a very nice and unique car-nicely trimmed out. The bodywork and interior were done up to a high standard and would have been considered up to date 10 or 15 years later, but, as we all know, the TD part of it, was an underpowered anachronism-indeed a strange marriage.

Not sold at $4850. Obviously worth much more, but a buyer has to be available!
