MG TD TF 1500 - One Lap Of Great Britain

Hi,
I was wondering if anybody on this board came over to the UK for this event.
89 MG's came over in a RO/RO ship and I think over 100
people flew in.
I was with the group that met them at the airport using airport transfers tonbridge and went to the docks to pick up the cars. After 22 years it will be interesting to find out.

What year was this?

Hi Tom,
it was 1990 organised by the New England T register.

I know a couple of them from GOF South events. They still proudly (and I don't blame them) display their One Lap plaque on their badge bar.

I was one of the lucky. Car # 88, Green TF. Ga. Plates.
Awesome adventure. Belated thanks for your help.

Dig out your TSO's (or your (TSOCD-ROM) and turn it to the October 1990 Issue, page 10. The report is titled, "Eighteen and Thin" by Barbara Appleton, #5000. The trip was masterminded by Mike and Barbara Leckstein. Bud

Was there too, with my 10 year old son as navigator, #63, '52 TD MKII, did B&B. My 'rally' plate has been on the car ever since. The gang in England did the most incredible job of setting things up. Everything went like clockwork and it was a once in a lifetime. Still have the trip book and dream of recreating the tour with the spouse, (she declined then as she refused to spend 3 weeks in a TD), Lands End to John O'Groats, Oxford, Abingdon, the North Banking at Brooklands and a run at Prescott Hill, and on and on.

Sorry, here is a photo from New Hampshire International with the plate in evidence.

I was there, Number 31 - Green 1951 TD. Great adventure, including replacing a water pump on the road.

Hi,
I remember one car(a TC I think),destroyed it's engine on the run from the docks to the first nights Hotel.
The MGCC,MGOC and OctagonCC managed to scrounge enough parts to build a new one, a local dealer giving workshop space to do the work.(A GM dealer no less)
I think the owner built up another when they got home and donated it to MGCC.
A great sight all those MG's together.
