MG TD TF 1500 - Ourple TD?

This is an e-bay listing. I appreciate having our cars the focus of a stamp, but a purple TD?

Think maybe the ourple typo is a freudeian slip...I too think that purple is "urple" on most any vehicle, especially a TD!

AH-HA,
We have been wrong all these years!
"M.G." does stand for something!
(There is the proof ...right in fron of us!)
MG = "My Grape"
as in "MY GRAPE Tinny Driver"

I've seen a J2 that color before. That car looked quite nice that color. Maybe it's the tan top, but the TD can't quite pull it off as well.

Anybody besides me "Google" this one to see where Vaitupu,Tuvalu is!
Does not look like a fun place to find parts for your TD ...or anything else for that matter. Up-Side....don't need a roadmap if you live there!

These small countries like Tuvalu create batches of stamps for anything they think people would want to collect. Cars, cartoon characters, toys, you name it. This is one way they can generate some income.
Chris Couper

Chris is correct

Just wondered if that was the only TD in Vaitupu, Tuvalu or otherwise who told them a purple TD was original?

Google Earth for "Vaitupu,Tuvalu"....looks
like sales form 2 or 2 sheets would generate enough revenue to paint new stripes on all the roads!
Cheers,
David 55 TF1500 #7427 ...uh, NOT Purple!

In MG TD what does the TD stand for
Tom Brett

T series, D (as in ABC) model.

If any of you wish to have yourself and your car immortalised in a real usable postage stamp , you can apply to Norfolk Island and they will do it for you (for a price of course). Write to Alan Taverner, Norfolk Island , South Pacific , 2899 and tell him I sent you. ( no commercial connection to me, I come from there and we went to school together)
Regards, Richard.
R Payne

I'm not sure how usable it'd be. You'd have to go there to post the letter. A bit extreme, I think, and the cost to get there is likely to make the price of the stamp seem cheap.

Derek Nicholson

Not sure how many MG fellas here are philatelists too, but many of the small island nations have made issuing stamps (and onsold internationally) a major revenue source of their GDP.

And if one insists on going there to post a letter, guess that increases their 'tourism' income too.
