MG TD TF 1500 - Pedal Box Spacers- Correct Position?
I've put off the re-install of the dreaded pedal box parts for two years and can't remember where the spacers are supposed to go. Moss shows two spacer washers required but I have extras and not sure where or how many should be used. (I seem to have room for only two spacers.)Should they go on either side of the brake pedal? One the outside of the brake pedal and the other between the frame and the clutch pedal? One on the outside of the frame between the frame and the c-clip, the other ??? I can't find a drawing anywhere. PS: This is for a left hand drive TF. Craig |

One on each side of the brake pedal on my car, no washer between clutch pedal and frame for a total of two washers. Geroge |

Wow! Thanks for the quick responses! Seems like a pretty goofy design, not having a washer under the exterior circlip. -Craig |

Whoever designed that pedal arrangement, must have been in the suds. Without a doubt it is the most awkward design. Even in 1950, hydraulic brake and clutch actuators were in, and mechanical was on the way out. At that point, RR had them for years. Gord Clark Rockburn, Qué. |

Craig, the only thing I can figure is that if the circlip pops off, the inner clutch arm can only move a little inward because it rubs on the cover plate. The TC arrangement with the shaft fixed is much better I think. George |

George, your right, I hadn't thought of that. Now I'm glad I spent the time to make a replacement cover plate! -Craig |
