MG TD TF 1500 - Removing TD Water Pump
I am in the process of removing the water pump on my 53 mg td. The manual says remove the 4 nuts and bolts holding it to the block and remove pump. ( Fan belt and blades etc. are off) My pump appears to be fouling on the motor stabilizer bar just ahead of the water pump. What am I missing? Any experience with this issue? Thanks K |

While it's off you may to replace the stabilizer link bushing. They seem to only have a 10 year life. Mike |

Just a note on "New" water pumps,,,,, I also replaced our water pump a few weeks ago,, and found the my spare water pump needed some grinding of the mounting flange to clear the engine stabilizer mount... Also, the bolt holes had to be enlarged a bit to fit,, thankfully this repair was being done in the garage. The brand name of the pump is "COUNTRY", . The new replacement that is is now my spare, is also a "COUNTRY" brand and this one came with instructions that indicate some modifications will be needed for it to fit!!! . I would suggest that you make these modifications before it is packed away in the car as a spare,,, . It's difficult enough to change a pump in a parking lot, never mind finding out that you need to find a grinder and drills!!! SPW |
