MG TD TF 1500 - Replacement Engine Tag
I don't believe I remember seeing this tag before. Decent TC!
The normal engine tag on a TC is an octagonal brass tag attached to the flywheel housing on the left side. I wonder if that might be an engine from a TB (XPAG engine) or a TA (MPJM engine). Cheers - Dave

This looks like a factory rebuilt engine. The factory rebuilt engines had a rectangular tag with the engine bore oversize and crankshaft undersize stamped on them. The "Gold seal" engines were painted bright gold/bronze color.
An MG dealer could install a replacemt engine in a mater of hours sending the owner on their way, and their blown engine would be sent back to the factory for reconditioning.
I probably was not sufficiently clear... I have seen a lot of replacement engines with factory replacement tags, usually larger rectangular ones mounted by the exhaust manifold, but I have not seen THIS version of the tag before.
Except for the non-original interior, that's one nice, original TC. Should fetch a pretty sum.
It has an Ocean-to-Ocean badge on it. Does anyone know anything about this car in Beverly, MA?

|The TA uses an MPJG engine, not MPJM. I have MPJG583 in my TA. Original engine per the guarantee plate. See photo.
8367 only shows up in the TSO CDROM as a telephone number. Bud
Some of the same "mistakes" as my TF, but they sure would look nice sitting together in my garage if anybody is looking for a nice gift for me! The rectangular driving lamp looks a bit "out of place" to me ...but I have a spare round one. LOL
