MG TD TF 1500 - SLR700S

Was wondering where one might find a lens for a LUCAS SLR700 driving lamp. Marvin

Hi Marvin,
I've been trying to find a replacement lens for my pair of 700 SLRs for quite some time. I've combed eBay US and eBay UK for the last two years with no luck. I know you can buy reproductions of the entire lamp assembly but I haven't seen the lens by itself. XKs Unlimited may have them (the 700 SLR being popular with the Jag XK120 crowd, but I haven't tried them yet). Please let me know what you find out. Thanks!
Happy Holidays,
Robert
A Google search came up with this company that makes Lucas reproductions, wonder who is a distributor for them?

Marvin/Robert:

While I can't help with just a lens replacement, I have been contemplating replacing my 576's with one each SLR and SFT 700 for some time. I was afraid that they would contrast with the 7" headlamps being they are the same size. Can either of you post/forward a pic of the front of your T with the 700's mounted? I'd like to see the actual look.

If you cannot post here, please email me at:

Thanks

Larry, my SLR700S came in a box of parts so isn't on the car. Marvin

Marvin/Robert:

Try the link below. Looks like the light unit only, no case. I checked my Lucas Master catalog and for the SLR 700 they do not list a replacement lens or reflector separately. You have to replace the whole light unit (reflector & lens). The Lucas part # is 554617. The vendor below sells them.

Hope this helps.

And more recent shot with the amber lens
I run now. (one dtiving / one fog)
I have put a set of the clears (have two set's) on ebay a couple of times ...but never got close to what repro's go for (my reserve) ...so I've just hung on to all 6 of them!
Cheers,

Thanks Dave. They sure look smaller than 7" lights. I always thought the SLR 700 and the SFT 700 were 7" lights (at least they are listed as such). Yours look just slightly larger than my SLR and SFT 576 (5 3/4") lights. Can't be sure. What's the size?

Cheers

OOps ...My bad ...couple of days shopping and came home...took a couple Vicadine before I answered this post last night!
These are SLR and SFT 576 (5 3/4") lights...not 700 series!
Nevermind...
