MG TD TF 1500 - So many little things

Did the TD come with the hoes in the fron splash panel showm on this pic? If so, what are the holes for? If not, any guesses why PO may have made the holes?

Thanks.

Jud

Probably for a badge bar or spotlight bar.

<<Did the TD come with the hoes in the ... panel>>

I don't know about 'hoes' in the panel but I do like the 'ho-ho-hoes' on the grill.

Bad joke, I know.....

Badge bar / fog lamp mount woulsd be my guess also.

No such holes on the original pan.

Badge bar,

STEVE WINCZE

The holes are not likely for a badge bar, but it looks like they were for some type of lamp and wiring. It would not be the idea place for a lamp as I think the weight of the lamp would cause some deflection in the splash panel bring about a poor lighting condition.

Jud,
Not my car,,, I just did a search to find a picture of the badge bar that might be in the same location as the holes that you were inquiring about,,, My car has the more standard badge/light bar,,,,

Hey Jud!
Go to the thread: "Thread: MG History"

The "Saftey Fast" link I posted I think you will find very interesting!
Shows your wiper motor installed as well as a shot of a TD with single fog lamp installed with the holes you asked about here.

Cheers,

Me thinks Mr. Appleyard's TD is a pretty strong argument that the fog lamp could indeed have been a factory installed item! He did kind of pick it up quite near the factory! LOL

I get sound for the intro then none. Is this silent movie or do I need to look at it on a 'real' computer?

Looks like a PO put holes in the apron to run wiring to fog/driving lights. There is more room to fish wiring at that location and wires would have been run through grommets. I would guess that the normal badge bar would have been used.

Just my opinion.
C.R. Tyrell

It looks like the fog light on Mr. Appleyard's TD is mounted on a badge bar and not on the front apron. C.R.Tyrell's observations about the holes being for wiring are likely on the mark.
BTW, Mr. Appleyard likes to keep that rev counter up above 5,000 RPM!
