MG TD TF 1500 - Something is amiss

Take a look at this on on E-bay. It says reserve met at just under $4,000. Looks like a nice TD. Wonder what the story is and why they are letting it go for little reserve?

I love the original Naugahyde seats along with that fantastic original dash board. Look at the extreme security when grabbing that handle on the glove box door. The grey fuzz that suposed to be carpet is absolutely original K-MART Blue Light special. As for the air filters thay are all original barn found aftermarket rock filters. The lower right side of the fuel tank is about to have a pup. or at leaste a leak.Everything is original as stated but ORIGINAL WHAT?
I still think that it is a steal at that price. I might even SNIPE it a little bit.

Looking at the serial number. It is an early TD. guages appear correct although the instrument cluster looks chrome. Parts alone would cover the price it is at currently.

Well, it has surpassed the reserve in 6 hours since being posted and still has 6 and a half or so days to go.... not going to go that cheap!

About ten years ago I purchased my current TD and paid more than the current price listed on Ebay. It ran, but need a total restoration. It was rusted out in all the typical places and some of the parts were missing. (Clock and wiper motor) This TD on Ebay, if the mileage is correct and it has been in heated storage for this long would certainly seem to be a good buy . All the major parts seem to be there. If the wood is good, the seats and interior could easily be replaced. All the gauges seem to be correct and it even has a clock. The paint on the instrument cluster is probably faded, I believe originally that they were chromed, but not polished in this area. I live very close to where the car is located and will probably try to go see it. I might even bid. You can never have to many MG’s

Let us know if you get a chance to take a look at it.

Looks like a good car for a restoration. Mostly complete. The four big items missing are the seats, choke knob, ignition assembly and the air cleaner assembly. Other stuff looks cosmetic.

Looks like it might even have orginal bumpers (needs the two front overriders).

Have to look for rust etc and swaped body parts but they do not show in picture.
