MG TD TF 1500 - SPARK PLUG GAP...

Greetings.

Have owned 1950 TD # 0823 since 1965.
Have used many types/brands of plugs
Will install new NGK B6HS plugs.
What is the correct gap....?

Please advise.

Welcome to the board, Dr. Rougeux!

You can't go wrong with .025 with a standard coil and point style ignition in these cars.

Nice looking example!

Nice looking car....couldn't figure out "what" looked strange on it.
You do know your missing your bumber over-riders ...right?
Or were those not on 1950 model ??? Maybe I learn something today.
Cheers,

I have run the same plugs for years, .025 gap also. George

If times are tough, George, let me know, and I can send you a set only 20 years old.

Allo.

My TD did arrive with the bumper guards (4).
However, I removed them for a cleaner/smoother
appearance.

BTW. Can the speedometer be removed without
much difficulty ? Whats the technique...?

TIA.
DR CONRAD ROUGEUX

Your early style flat gauges can be removed by going behind and disconnecting the speedometer cable and also undoing the two thumb nuts that hold the bracket that pulls the face of the speedometer flush with the wood. From there the speedometer pulls out from the front. There is an o-ring with a square cross section between the panel and the front of the gauge. Since the lighting is by separate post mounted lights set in cavities in the panel from behind, there are no wires to disconnect.

Pretty funny Gordon!!

Great...!

Sometimes, early & simple, work best......

Would hate to remove the entire dash...

I do appeciate the support.

Dr. Conrad,
It's great watching someone dip into the broad, broad knowledge on this board.
Would be interested in knowing more about your 45 years experience with the TD.
With warm regards,

Dr. Rougeux: Where in Nothern California are you located? I am trying to connect with someone near the Central Valley. I have a 1952 mg td. You can email me off the board if you do not want to disclose your location.
