MG TD TF 1500 - stamping on leaf springs
Can anybody translate the stampings on my leaf springs in this picture? The Horst book says something about date of mfg. I belive but I can't figure it out.

Ed, It is a replacement spring from the MOWOG days. The originals would have been date stamped. warmly, dave |

Whoops, I screwed up. MOWOG is date appropriate for our cars (not sure what I was thinking). You can see the date stamp faintly in along the side (same place mine are). I marked your photo accordingly. It starts with a six or a nine, which would be the month. Then there should be a year. warmly, dave ![]() |

I looked closer after Dave's explanation. They are stamped 6 of 1951! That's interesting since the car is titled as a "1950 mg td". The T-register shows it was built in '51 as well. So do I have a 1950 or a 1951 TD? It's #8686 on the dumbiron. Any guesses? |

Mr. Haskell - here is the build date for your TD TD8686 XPAG/TD/LHX9099 29-Jun-1951 TD8686 EXL/NA This info can be found on the following site: http://www.tregister.org/search_prod.php Hope this helps, Jeff |
