MG TD TF 1500 - TC BPF bulbs

Does anyone know if British Pre Focus halogen bulbs are available anywhere in right hand dip ?
I set up my TC headlights on low beam angled to the right so that when I dip to low beams they don't catch the oncoming driver in the eyes.
People are always telling me my headlights are out of adjustment because they are angled to the right.
Thanks

Hi Charlie,

A good friend of mine here in South Australia exports globes worldwide. He specialises in old cars and is particularly interested in T-Types. He owns a beautifully restored TC among other MGs. His name is Anthony Pearson and his email address is acpearson@tpg.com.au

He does LED headlight globes and much more. I have a pair of his front sidelight inserts in my road TC. They show white when in "parker" or "headlight" mode BUT ... when the indicator is turned on, the parker on that side turns off while the indicator flashes bright amber. VERY good for safety!

I don’t know about halogen but incandescent ones with the dip you need are out there.

I have them in my RHD TF in USA.

www.matchlessclueless.com has them, no mention of the dipping although.

More research while I could not sleep.

The “dipping” pattern is set by the reflector/lense, not the bulb from what I see.

Now that I think about it, I swapped my reflector/lense to LHD units so my RHD car would throw the dip to the right in the USA.

I googled Halogen P36D, they are out there.

Back to sleep now I hope.

Its a combination of both lens and bulb as in the enclose tech bulletin.

Then this place has what you need, but you need the correct reflector/lense to achieve the end result.

Charlie,

Going on from the Lucas document,
12v 42/36 bulb 354 for RHD and 355 for LHD

I have checked my box of old bulbs, but none of the are marked, but I do have new in a box 2 Halogen bulbs. These are Maxda brand and labeled 26/457, 55/43watts
I suspect, if they follow past practice the LHD ones could be 458, but that is showing as 24v on the enclosed and it does not show LHD/RHD.

Hope it helps.

I had this problem a few years ago and learned that these lamps ARE handed. The Lucas catalog is unclear. I cross checked with the Holden site which clarified the issue.

https://www.holden.co.uk/c/electrical/lighting/bulbs_warning_lamps/page/5?view=18

For example, it mentions that LLB414 dips to the left.

Thank you all very much for your assistance,
I did come up with a supplier for 60/55 halogen BPF bulbs RH dip in Australia.
