MG TD TF 1500 - TD Brake Line lengths

Hi, Does anyone have the correct lengths of all the brake lines/pipes of a TD.
I can have them made up locally if I knew the right lengths.
Regards Rob.

Go to the Abingdon Spares website,
http://www.abingdonsparesllc.com/catpg31detail.html and you'll see that they are identified as length in inches.
Just watch out for RHD vs. LHD for Item #30. It's 10 inches for LHD. Bud

Thanks Bud, Thats just what I wanted. I haven't dealt with Abingdon before but thats another contact worth having.

Rob, how are you guys making out with those wild fires down there? Watching it on the news. We've been having some bad ones here lately also. Lots of homes lost. PJ

Thanks for the concern Paul,
We ourselves are OK because we are near the coast but it is getting serious over the escarpment behind us as they expect high temperatures for the next couple of days with strong winds.
The beautiful blue mountains are sure copping it. Last night I think I remember them saying about 160 homes gone. Lots more damaged.

Glad to hear that you are OK,,, how about or friend Matthew Magilton ??
STEVE WINCZE

Matthew lives in Victoria and so far we haven't had any bushfires this year but they are tipping a bad summer for them. Today was 31 degrees C (about 92 F) which was very warm for this time of year.

Bob, I wasn't suggesting that you buy the lines from A/S. Only that they listed the lengths. When I converted Lazarus (my 52 TD) over to silicon DOT5 fluid I replaced all of the cylinders, hoses and lines. I learned that modern copper-nickle brake line is an absolute pleasure to work with. Bends easlily without wanting to kink. Only problem is the cost of about US$2/foot, but IMHO well worth it. Good luck and may the weather be good to you. Bud

Hi Bud, I ordered my brake lines to be made up this afternoon from a local brake merchant and they will be ready in the morning to pick up.
Price about the same as US but I won't have to wait for them or pay the freight.
In regard to Matthew Magilton I assume he must have purchased TD 0268 because at the 60th anniversary at Dandenong The owner was Jim Bradley and at that time he said he was loosing interest in the restoration.
I haven't met Matthew but his car is the one after mine.
Both cars are listed in the mg td register book from the Melbourne MG Car Club.
Thanks again for the link. Rob.

Rob welcome aboard. I never knew Abingdon Spares listed the lengths. Good to know. Thanks Bud.

Warmly,

I think for a LHD car one uses pipe 33, 10 inches, and for a RHD car pipe 31 for 46 inches, for a 36 inch difference. In other words you buy two of the same pipe depending on the pedals location.
