MG TD TF 1500 - TD for cheap?
Tempted to contact this guy and see how much he would pay me to take this away after the review he wrote! http://www.cartalk.com/content/tommys-mg-td-1952 |

Dave, I've read the article previously,,, and since then, I haven't wasted my time with these guys,,,, I can't understand why they were so negative!! SPW |
STEVE WINCZE |
Steve , Totally agree! Friend sent this to me this morning. Haven't read any other "reviews" by this guy ...doubtful that I will! I do have an old bicycle I would trade him even-up since he is apparently so displeased with his purchase! |

I, too, have read this before. I always laugh until I have tears in my eyes. I don't know that these guys want to be cruel, just sarcastically funny. I guess the rest of us serious owners and lovers of these lbcs overlook whatever deficiencies we encounter to keep 'em going with pride and enjoyment. Jerry |

These guys are funny. At one time I listened to their show Car Talk every weekend, then I got a life. If you have not heard the show try looking on the PBS web site. Don |

If you are not a huge Car Talk fan, you won't get this. I found it hysterical! Tommy's TD is obviously not in the best condition either.. George |

I catch these guys every week on NPR. If you hear them in person you will understand better their sense of humor. They have been cracking jokes about Tommy's MG and his 1963 Dodge Dart for years. He still has the MG and drives it a lot so he must be pretty fond of it. |
P.W. Lester |
hmmm.. Wonder if he would like a Chrysler TC by Maserati for his collection? |

Love these Click and Clack's show also... As for reliability - we just returned from GoF West where we had the pleasure of meeting Derwood and Beverly Schrotberger who had driven their 1952 mg td to the GoF from Chapel Hills, NC., with nary a problem. Their plans were to continue on to California to visit a friend and then return to NC. Obviously they won the Long Distance Award! |

Tommy actually loves that TD, it has always been his dream car. He drives it often, and cherishes it. If you read that review and take it at all seriously, you do not know "click and clack" or understand their sarcastic sense of humor. We have actually corrisponded with each other, he has thought about attending GOFs in the past. Maybe someday. -David |

Sorry I said PBS should be NPR, now both networks are offended. Don |

I used to read their auto tech help columns years ago. Funny as hell and yet when they got serious very informative. Got pictures Gene? |

Agreed, they are both funny and informative. I do agree the review of the TD hits a bit close to home and is hard to laugh at it. But since I that every car he owns get the same abuse... I let it slide. It was with a sad heart that they retired last year, the shows are still on, but the are rewinds... I still laugh. |

I actually got on the show talking about my TD back in the 1980's. Can;t remember the issue I called about, but they spent the first part just tearing down the TD and then it comes out that Tommy is actually a very well loved car. |
