Nice photos, and nice car. Interesting that George has all that chrome in front, as mine did before I started my restoration. I wonder how common it was to chrome the radiator grille, the headlamp buckets and the stays for the headlamps back in the day? It does look great to me, but somewhere along the line I decided to strip all mine and go with paint.

I noticed George placed his fuel line and wire loom on the chassis before he placed the tub, I considered this, but decided to wait. I'm afraid of getting the fuel line a few inches off fore or aft before I have the fuel pump and the gas tank to sight my lines. Also, on a friend's TD MK II I found it easier to route the entire loom through the firewall from the interior, and then down the chassis rail, rather than the more obvious from the exterior into the interior. How did George's choice work for him? Did he have Turn Signals on the car, if so, which side of the firewall is the control box mounted?

A lot of questions... I know!

Dave, Some of the cars came from the factory with chrome headlamps. My 51 is a case in point. Evidently after the war, the Works used what they had on hand, some cars had chrome buckets and others did not. I kinda like the chrome brackets but mine were painted. To expensive to chrome them when I did the restoration. I like you also had a chrome grille slat but did not like it and went back to the painted as in the interior. Chrome one is for sale... cheap.....

Tom: Might be interested in a nice chrome grille-how good is it? Should be correct for my MKII-mine's awful rough. Let me know-Thanks Dan Craig momsauto@sbcglobal.net
