MG TD TF 1500 - TD Wheel Lug/Brace

Would anyone in MG land have the measurements of the wheel brace so I can fabricate same.
Thanks.

need more info on what you are looking for.

Basically there are two types of wheel braces, or lug wrench for the TD. Go to Ttalk.info, Bud Krueger's site, and then click on TD Wheel Braces, and there you can see the differences. If you require the stepdown design, I have one on hand you are welcome to borrow.
Larry Brown

MGrogan, sorry it is for the wheels. The right angle wheel brace used to remove the hub cap and loosen/tighten the wheel nuts.

Larry, Thanks I have looked at the archives and this ref. you supplied and can find pictures but no specifications/measurements. I need the steel rod diameter, distance from socket head to right angle bend etc.
Thanks for replies so far.

Bill

just got mine out of the toolbox.

I assume this is correct - I've never thought about it.

A picture with measurements is at:

Note that angle is not 90 degrees - haven't got a protractor so can't give it to you.

Steve,
I'll guess the angle from the pcture. The measurements are what I am looking for so thanks for that.
Thanks to all others who responded.

Steve,
Sorry but in the excitement I missed that there was no diameter of the steel rod making the brace. Can you measure the steel rod diam.
Thanks once again.

Uh oh! I've been lax about updating that page. It cost me about $40 to learn that the later wheel braces (lug wrenches for us Yanks) are available in both stepped and smooth forms. I'm still looking for an early one. I'll try to get some measurements on both types in the next couple of days.
Bud Krueger

The wheel brace that I have here in front of me is 1/2" diameter and 6" to the inside of the bend...it is a right angle and does not fit neatly into the tool box. I wonder why they didn't make one leg a little shorter so it would stand upright inside the tool box?
The 6" is to the beginning of the "tools" on either end.

Gentlemen,
Thanks for sharing the info.

Steve,

Someone bent your lug wrench. I agree with TATerry. Every lug wrench I've ever seen has a 90 degree bend.

I, too, am looking for the early one, with the tapered shank behind the socket. I have a late one to trade, as well as one for an MGA.
