Hi there,

Generally I'd try avoid using freebie site
hosting like geocities etc... the popups
are more annoyance than they are worth.

But more crucially, your pix are HUGE!

eg: carA.jpg is 1.14MB (if eyes read right)
carB.jpg is 676k
carC.jpg is 652k
carD.jpg is 848k
... they took FOREVER to load on broadband,
anyone on 56k modem diallup would have given up.
You're also using up lots of bandwidth.

Definitely resize them pronto!!

For web use keep your pix to 60-100k max.
Pix only need to be 72dpi for screen use
so the pix should be resized with software.

Where pix need to be Big (eg for detail)
you should "thumbnail" them eg a tiny pix
will lead to the big pix when clicked on.

That means the viewer doesn't have to load
the entire page with all the big pix all
at once, only the ones clicked on.

Hope that helps.

ps: good luck with the build!

A few quick pix-related faves:-

If you're seriously into web publishing, the pros use:-
pix editing -PhotoShop
HTML coding -MS FrontPage or Netscape Editor

These days the friendly HTML editors work like a wordprocessor. Type in and past up all your pages and they'll save your HTML (webpage code) for you.

On the later versions, you could even use Microsoft Word and do "save as" HTML.

LaVerne, I haven't really given up on the CD that you sent to me. It's just that 125 MB is a bit too much. I've just found a macro (imageresizer.exe) to resize the images in hopes of creating a reasonable size album. I'll let you know what happens.

Thanks Guys,

My daughter (tried to show me how to do this) set this up and after we took a look at the site the first thing she said was that I needed to reduce the quality of the photos because they would take forever to down load. Sorry. I think the site sucks also as I tried to look at it about 5 times and about 4 of those said it was overloaded and to try back later. Was kind of hoping it might be a lot better. was going to post photos of my steering wheel rebuild for Gordon to look at, but thats a little late as he's aready done. Will, I'm into the reassembly process right now as Bud can attest to, so if I can find a better way to post these I'll get you all up to speed.

You can also send any large photos to me by email and i will reduce them to a usable size... I have a copy of photoshop and its very easy to do and return by email.
