MG TD TF 1500 - TF Uphostery Questions
I looked in the archive, and could not find an answer to these. My green vinyl TF uphostery kit has about a 10 foot piece of 7/8 wide thin black strip, kind of like hidem. What is this for? Also, on the bottom of the lid for the side curtain box, does the vinyl cover the edge of the felt or is it vice versa? I saw a reference to a book by "Horst" probabaly on uphostery. What is the title of this book? Thanks, Mike D. |

The vinyl folds under from the top of the box cover about an inch and a half around the entire perimiter. The felt goes over the vinyl. The black vinyl strip is the trim piece that holds down the felt over the vinyl in a "picture frame" patern. The black vinyl strip should be folded under from each outer edge along the length. This should result in a strip that is about 1/2" wide. The black vinyl strip is stapled in place. Dan H. |

Mike, "The Complete mg td Restoration Manual" by Horst Schach printed by postprinting.com. It covers a complete restoration of a his TD (not a TF) from bare frame to painting to upholstery and beyond. I used it extensivly, including the interior work. Not sure it would do you much good for a TF interior however. Others will answer specifics here I'm sure. Ed |

Thank you so much for the answers. I had a feeling that the vinyl stip may have been for the cover. Well, back to working on it! Mike |

The Horst book has a lot of great info that is the same for a TD or TF(mecahnical, top, side curtains, and general stuff),but the behind the seat area and SC box lid is toally different on a TF. George |
