MG TD TF 1500 - Username suggestion
dear BBS friends, I would like to make a suggestion that all of us mention their first name in their usernames instead of initials. It is very simple to do: click on customise and make the change (than scroll down to click on save options). I feel that amongst friends it is nicer to see the first names. greetings, Huib

Should I still go by "David" (my given name)...or that "new" first name my wife of 38 years uses? (The later may be flagged for obsenity!) Can you say "a**hole" on here? Cheers, David / A
David Sheward
Can you say "a**hole" on here? I think you just did. I'd say stick with David. If you use the other one too many of us are lable to respond to a question. Could get real confusing.
LaVerne Downey
No problem here. I left the vping because that is my username for everything and all know me by that. Vince
Vincent W Pina vping
Great idea....and yes...asshole i'm sure is a pet name for a lot of us... better then what i used to be called....
gblawson(gordon)
Done and good idea. I also added my photo of my car to the comments. This can be done under customize also. Neat to find out things one did not know of before. I had no idea on the customize thing.

Done - now you can have a good "Leave it to Beaver" laugh. Just don't get carried away, ok? Ed
Ed Haskell
Ho Ho Ho I get it, Eddie Haskell... snicker warmly, dave
Dave Braun
Thank you Huib. Your thought will make it easier to communicate with other members in a more direct manner. George Raham

Very Good idea. Until I emigrated to the US I had never been called an asshole but that was soon rectified. In England, I was always called an ar*ehole. Semantics rearing its ugly head again, I suppose. I had to remind myself, several times, of the reason why I was called an asshole. To help me do this I had recourse to the limerick:- There was a young girl from Madras Who had a beautiful ass NOT rounded and pink As you might think But was gray, had long ears and ate grass.

I guess I didn't hit the "box" at the bottom, but there it is now. George Raham

I think I already gave you "the business" Eddie.

Ed...how you must have suffered growing up.... now days of course, kids will pay no attention to the name.... (does open up a couple good laughs if you posted the right photo to go with your posts).

I guess that I am kinda dumb. I can't find customize anywhere. Bob
R. K. Jeffers
If your signed in it is right beside the archive button (on mine anyway)... you can change all the preferences and photos and stuff...
gblawson(gordon)
Done... I think
Bob McLeod
Done (I think)
Larry Karpman
Got any other great ideas, Huib? Dick Thomas
Dick Thomas
This really is a great site. At most online forums I have seen, everybody hides behind a user name.
Steve Averka
Bob, I pictured the BBS screen thatI think you will recognise and pointed to "customise" Greetings, Huib ![]()

Bedankt voor de tip Huib ! Eindelijk verlost van die verschrikkelijke initialen ! Cheers, Nick, '52TD/'63midget/'74MGB
Nick Herwegh
Thank for the tip Huib! At last releases of those terrible initials! I could not resist.

Hey asshole (or ar*ehole). (Curious to see who answers.) I'll go first ....YOU RANG!
David Sheward
Yes?
Geoff Love
Had to change mine a few years back because someone got my password and I had to create a new one. Looks like it allowed me to change it. Bruce
Bruce E Cunha
Someone is already using the name Jim.
Jim Northrup
Hey asshole (or ar*ehole). Yes dear.....
LaVerne Downey
Mind if I called ya Bruce? Would make things a bit easier... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_f_p0CgPeyA
LaVerne Downey
Got it changed, but my grandkids call me grumpy.
Mike Hart
Huib - - Many Thanks. Because of your suggestion, I was able to get my correct email address included on my posts. Lou
Lou Van Koningsveld
OK, I did it. Lou, does "tracerfxr" perchance refer to Mercury Tracer, aka Mazda 323? FRM
Fletcher R Millmore
OK I'm in. The wife had to change hers on another site. She was using her initials at first.. BarB Ann Grogan or ( BAG ) as I call her.. >grin<
Michael Grogan
Thanks Huib, was wondering where I could get rid of my initials and go back to the *old* listing that I had.
Gene Gillam
Done
Patrick Earles
OK I did it, why did they only want are initials when we signed up for the first time? Louis
Louis Levin
Fletcher - - For about 30 years, I was a field service tech., repairing a 3 dimensional electronic tracer attachment for milling machines. Unfortunately, the use of CAD/CAM meant the demise of the tracer process and most pattern shops as well. It was interesting work though. Lou
Lou Van Koningsveld
Lou - Ah I see. I love tracers, and if I ever get to it will build a mechanical one for one of my lathes. Know a plant locally that has a hydraulic tracer mill, make a lot of plate cams. FRM
Fletcher R Millmore
Thank you for these lovely responses. Greetings, huib
Huib Bruijstens
I put my initials in at first to sign in and then tried to change it to my first name, but the initials still come up before my last name. Am I doing something wrong to change it. I can't use the wrenches on this lap top, so I'm at a loss. Well, I could use a wrench on it.
PSJ Jennings
You should be able to change your name under the 'customize' link at the top of the page? Be sure to hit 'save' at the bottom of the choices.
