MG TD TF 1500 - voltage regulator
Recently had my Lucas VR (pos. gnd) modified to solid state. Terminal A1 on new reg. to gnd: @ 1700rpms reads 13.4 volts. no lighting switched on. @ 1700rpms reads 11.91 volts WITH lighting on. This is a new and accurate digital meter. Battery after overnight rest reads 12.92 volts between the terminals. Good Battery. Usual required test on dynamo and it reads 14-20 volts with with increased rpms. Nothing additional in electric system other than fog lights and signal lights. No radio,no accessary outlets. I think the charging volts should be 14.5 to 15.5 volts. Any thoughts? I'm concerned that the battery is not charged enough and I may have a breakdown on the highway. Best regards, Daniel |

If your conversion was done by Bob Jeffers, I'd suggest giving him a call. Bud |

I set the voltage to 14.40 volts, that is what you should get from A or A1 to gnd. Send it back for a retest, no charge. Bob |

Thank you both for a quick response. Bob Jeffers, when you set the VR to 14.4 volts, can I expect the voltage increase to 15.5 - 16 volts as per the "mg workshop MANUAL" when increasing the speed to 2600-3000 RPM's ? Best regards, Daniel |
