MG TD TF 1500 - Water Pump ReBuild.. SU ???

In a $20.00 box of misc. TF parts bought at an auction, I found a water pump to be rebuilt. It has new sealed bearings, front seal and 5 blade plastic impeller. However the impeller has no hole in it for the retainer pin. Is this new impeller a push on interference fit? I assume so, but its best to ask. Do I need the felt washer dust seals when using sealed bearings? No lube required with the sealed bearing.
I also got a used, original SU 4080 fuel pump body. I have a hunch this for a TD as is designated Type L (low pressure) on the plastic cover. I think the type H for the TF pump is a little longer (.5") and the cap is different. Include was a complete pump rebuild kit.
Bunch of other odds and ends, but a good deal

I need to go home and check this, but I think the TF 1250s had the low pressure fuel pump. I do know that for the 1250s, the fuel pump is up on the bulkhead, and it got relocated near the rear right-hand wheel for the 1500s. So it might be a TF pump, but also suitable for a TD. I'll check my workshop manual when I get home.

The first 1,000 TF's had the low pressure pump at the firewall, then it was moved to near the rear axle and was changed for a high pressure pump. I have heard that the original high pressure pumps had a red plastic points cover.

Sounds like 20$ well spent!

Matthew......your are correct that the later HP pumps made for the TF and rear mounted did have a red cover.
I have never seen one but know they exist. I think this is a LP pump that came off of a early TF restoration. Dave Dubois was kind enought to send me a lot of info. I will send it to him for a rebuild and he can figure it out. Will let you know.
Did you see the $25M TF on eBay?

Colin, since the felts were the original plain bearing grease seals, I would toss them. Some years ago I installed the plastic impellor by drilling a hole through it and the spindle, and inserting a roll pin. I would be hesitant to go with a press fit. George

Matthew - The red end covers were used to denote positive ground. They have now gone to red tape around the end cover, coil housing joint. Cheers - Dave

I am not too hot on that plastic impeller, so I will just install the orig. cast one with pin. Pump on my car it the one they put on in Abingdon so some time its liable to fail. The rebuild can be another part for the travel box.
