MG TD TF 1500 - What the shop did with my TD

I told you about the problems I have had with my TD this summer. In the end, I asked if vapor lock was possible in cool weather. We can agree that it is not.
However, after a visit to Bosch Car Service (yes, name in English, in Norway, not uncommon) the car now works very well. Edward asked me to tell what they did, and here it is;
- The tuner first measured the exhaust and CO, and found it to be 7,5
- That indicated too rich mixture
- He then took out the plugs, and noticed immediately that the two front ones were black
- This indicated wrong jet tuning
- He adjusted the carboretor jettubes by screwing underneat till they were the same height, only using his fingers.
- When he then measured the CO, it was now down to the correct figure at 3,5.
- He put in four new plugs.

Very good. It's nice to have a mechanic that is local and honest and can fix the car the first time. I have one in my area that is like him.

Very nice looking TD Raymond. Do you see many older MG's in Norway?

A mechanic like that is a nice find. It is always great to have someone you can trust will be able to fix things and know what they are doing.

Bruce, all is relative, but I would say that with a fair portion of MGs in Norway. MGD is the dominating model. You know, of the TD, 80 % was exported to the US! And with left hand drive. Since it was too far and expensive to travel to USA to look at mg tds, I had to get one in England. And that was right hand drive. No problems.
