MG TD TF 1500 - Wood Steering wheel plans
Hi All can anybody please provide plans and dimensions for rebuilding a wooden steering wheel. Also what would be the best size I have seen new wheels advertised as being 15" is it a good idea to reduce the size. Thanks Bob ![]()

You will find that smaller wheels are harder to turn....and building on the original rim will keep it the same size anyway (unless you cut away the spokes, and I wouldn't recommend that) http://gblandco.com/oldwheel/oldwheel.html

Gordon, I will be studying your website with great care... my wheel arrived! Next, I have to go down and look at wood and choose some stock. I'll probably have LOTs of questions. I will probably have to have a joiner shop cut and thickness the wood for me as I have no planer/thicknesser or even a good table saw! But I'm confident with a few jigs and my router I'll be able to do this!

If you keep the wood to 1/8" think, and put 7 of them together, the size should be just about right....don't have them plane it any thinner.....
