MG TD TF 1500 - Yellowed Side Windows

I'm wondering if it's even practical or feasible to try and restore some really, really yellowed (and somewhat brownish) side windows. They are probably the originals and the last time I remember them being used was like....1977. Even then I recall they were somewhat yellowed. Even worse...I think...they feel a bit sticky like maybe the plastic itself is breaking down.

I know there have been suggestions on what products can be used to try and restore the plastic...but these windows are probably yellowed completely through. Should I just go ahead and order replacement windows/curtains...or is there a product out there that would really work given an ample application of elbow grease or a buffing wheel mounted on a drill?

Thanks!

My windows were yellow/brown, totally opaque, and I thought they were beyond hope. I used stuff in a spray can that someone recommended, a cleaner, and the improvement was positively miraculous. Evidently the discoloration is all on the surface, and the strong chemicals in this stuff got it right off.

I got the stuff online, it was in a black can and I can't remember the name, offhand, but will try to. I think I have the can at home somewhere, so if you can wait, I will let you know.

I used something called 'Plexus'... it was made for the plexi in fighter planes... took all the yellow out. I found it in a Home Hardware store, but it should be around any airport using airport transfers tonbridge?

Larry..I can wait if you don't mind trying to find out what the stuff is. Gordon, There are several small airports around the area here...I'll take a drive this weekend and ask if they carry the Plexus.
I'd really rather try and restore them since they are the originals.

Thanks!

It was plexus that I used. I couldn't remember the name until I saw it written down again. Not a very descriptive name.

Larry

PS. It is now 2 years later, and the windows are dirty again, though not as bad, and I need to get the Plexus out again.

Plexus is available at motorcycle stores.

I am new to this site and am blown away by the quality of help offered in the most generous way. The yellow side curtains is an excellent example. Congratulations!

Believe it or not :
Lemon Pledge...
Don't remember who told me about it many years ago ...but have been using it on convertable plastic widows for many years with great results!
