Triumph TR6 - And again..another virus

To all
If u receive e-mail from Basil Fawlty then u are aware of this virus.
For the chaps that do not get e-mail from him then be aware of a new virus that is, at this point, undectable by Norton or MacAfee. It is called jdbgmgr.exe.
Here below is a copy of the removal method as given to me:

FOLLOW THESE DIRCTIONS

A friend's address book has been infected by a virus and it was passed
on to my computer. My address book in turn has been infected. The virus
(called jdbgmgr.exe) is not detected by Norton or McAfee anti-virus
systems. The virus sits dormant for 14 days before damaging the system.
It's sent automatically by messenger and by the address book, whether or
not you sent e-mails to your contacts. Here is how to check for the
virus and how to get rid of it:
1. Go to start, click on Find or Search option.
2. In the Files/Folders option, write the name jdbgmgr.exe
3. Be sure you search your C:drive and any other drives you may have.
4. Click "Find now"
5. The virus has a teddy bear icon with the name jdbgmgr.exe DO NOT
OPEN IT!!
6. Go to edit, choose "select all" to highlight the file without
opening it.
7. Now go to file and select "delete" It will then go to the recycle
bin.
8. Go to the recycle bin and delete it ther as well.

IF YOU FIND THIS VIRUS YOU MUST CONTACT ALL THE PEOPLE IN YOUR ADDRESS
BOOk SO THAT THEY CAN ERADICATE IT IN THEIR OWN ADDRESS books. SORRY
ABOUT THIS. I'M SURE THAT AS I HAVE FOUND IT, EVERYONE IN MY ADDRESS
BOOK WILL HAVE IT AS WELL.

This whole internet thing is starting to become a pain in the u know what!

STOP HOLD THE PRESS!!!
IGNORE THE ABOVE. Apparently it is a hoax alert. Went to NORTON and saw that it is a hoax. DO NOT delete the above mentioned file. Hope I got to you in time here Chris.

Ha Don
What are friends for? :)

I received the alert from Basil, deleted the file, posted the above then went to Norton's WEB site, saw it was a hoax and did my second post. A few minutes after that got an e-mail from Basil saying it was a hoax. Thank goodness it is a file that only a programmer really needs. My appology to u and all who are on this BBS. For Christmas each year I promise to buy you a new battery for the pacemaker.

For anyone that wishes or needs one. There is a FREE upgradeable Virus scanner online. www.grisoft.com
This is what i use and has caught many virus's that are usually in attachement form. BUT first and formost
DO NOT OPEN ANY ATTACHMENTS from someone you are not sure of. If a box pops up when you click on the email. just CLOSE IT DO NOT OPEN it. YOU can how ever save it to desk top and then right click on it to scan it if you want to be sure of it. I Personally just close the popup return it to the sender with a note and then delete it, and block the address from where it came.
Just be sure to keep your virus scanners updated because they will and do catch most virus's sent in email. Like Rick C. did, you can go to symantic's page and see what ones are noted as hoax's. Or do a google search on them.
HOPE this helps some of you!
